An abstract artist accomplished in painting and printmaking, living and working in Southeast Michigan. Her self described “emotional landscapes” are inspired by the surroundings of her native Michigan with it’s beautiful waterways, its ever changing colorful seasons, and weather’s mysterious effects. Blending emotions, speculations, and spirituality, her colorful imagery captures a unique visual drama and dimension that is uniquely characteristic.

Joan’s work is commandingly stylized with a strong circular visual at the heart, eluding to the philosophy of a human balance and connection with nature. She embraces the ideals of American abstract expressionism and Japanese wabi-sabi, meaning, “to find beauty in the simple, crude, or imperfect.” All works are created using the finest art supplies and eco-friendly water base inks and acrylics.

Joan has received critical acclaim and participates in many juried and invitational shows. Her work can be found in galleries and private and corporate collections.
